COVID-19 Relief:
Medical Equipment for a Disadvantaged Town
My dear friends,
What if you had a chance to save a life?!
You are undoubtedly all aware that COVID-19 is changing the face of our world. So far, my country, Iran, is amongst the countries which have suffered the most.
My hometown, Fal in Southern Iran (population 10,000), has only one small clinic with the most basic medical equipment. Unfortunately, sanctions imposed by the US government against Iran are adding up to the misery and having a direct and negative impact on many lives. Daily and under normal circumstances, many children are suffering from a lack of medical services. In the past, I’ve seen my best friend’s newborn twins die because our local hospital is poorly equipped. I was there when my other friend’s incredibly gorgeous 6-month daughter died for the same reason. I’ve seen an elderly lady not having access to proper medical services at midnight when she had a heart attack. Unfortunately, this list can go on and on. These deaths are mostly preventable.
This time though, we are facing a rare pandemic during which, as you would all agree, lack of basic medical services makes for a catastrophe.
Through raising funds, I aim to take my little step and give back to the community which has given me a lot. My wife and I are donating $1000 in total which marks a significant fraction of our saving during 3 years of our studentship. But this is the least we can do if this saves a life and makes a family happy.
We need you to believe that every single donation in this situation can contribute to saving a life.

Our local connections: We are working closely with the clinic’s manager and city council to urgently make a list of required equipment and organize the purchase from reliable resources with the best prices. Our representatives in Fal are Mr. Zia Ahmadi (council board member), Mr. Rasoul Akbari (local accountant and supervisor), and Mrs. Zobi Hashemizadeh (local biologist).

About me:
I am Hosein Hashemizadeh, a Ph.D. student in Astronomy at the University of Western Australia. I have long experience with charity activities and non-profit organizations. 12 years ago I co-founded an association called “Goftogooye Ghalam” (گفتگوی قلم) in my hometown, Fal. The association is now actively run by younger generations. I have still kept my connection with GG. I have recently founded DASTAN Foundation, a charity registered in Australia (ABN 34 789 627 512). The foundation aims at enhancing science and education in Iran by supporting excellence and innovation in research, with a particular emphasis on environmental science. The inaugural Dastan Research Grant is focused on environmental issues in Iran and intends to fund research in relevant areas of environmental science, including its natural and social aspects. دوستان عزیزم
دنیا روزهای سختی را سپری می کند. کشور ما ایران در میان کشورهاییست که بیش ترین آسیب را از COVID-19 دیده است. امروز بیش از هر روزی نیازمند این هستیم که در کنار هم باشیم و دست های یکدیگر را تا پایان این تاریکی رها نکنیم.
من حسین هستم. شهر من، فال، با ۱۰۰۰۰ نفر جمعیت در جنوب استان فارس با تنها یک درمانگاه کوچک و کمترین تجهیزات و پزشکی که تنها چند نیم-روز در هفته خدمات می دهد یکی از آسیب پذیرترین شهرهاست. من به عنوان کسی که شاهد روزهای تلخ عزیزانم و جان باختن کودکان در این شهر بوده ام نمی توانم دست روی دست بگذارم و جان دادن انسان ها در نبود امکانات پزشکی را ببینم. برای مبارزه با COVID-19 تجهیزات مناسبی نیاز است از جمله: دستگاه های DC-Shock، ساکشن، اکسیژن، ماسک، لباس مخصوص، تعداد کافی تخت بیمارستانی، امکانات بستری و غیره. این برنامه ی خیریه جهت جمع آوری هزینه ی مورد نیاز برای خرید تجهیزات بالا برای درمانگاه شهر فال راه اندازی شده است. من و همسرم ۱۰۰۰ دلار را به این برنامه اهدا می کنیم که بخش زیادی از پس انداز ما در سال های دانشجویی مان در استرالیاست. اما این کمترین کاری است که می توانیم انجام دهیم، چرا که باور داریم این کار می تواند جان افرادی را نجات دهد و خانواده هایی را شادمان کند.
